Battlefield Studios has officially responded to community criticism regarding new cosmetic items introduced in Season 5. Players recently raised concerns about the quality of these skins, leading to widespread speculation about the potential use of artificial intelligence in their development.
The development team addressed the misspelling of the word "SECUTY" on the McNeil character skin, confirming it as an error. They pledged to release a fix during the Season 5 Phase 2 update. Regarding the Midnight Mirage skin, which features five pistols, the studio clarified that this design choice was intentional, serving as a creative homage to exaggerated action movie tropes.
The studio acknowledged that these oversights are unacceptable and expressed disappointment in their own quality control. Consequently, the team plans to review internal workflows to prevent similar issues in the future. Despite these admissions, the developers did not explain how the spelling error bypassed testing procedures.
While the studio issued an apology for the identified errors, they notably avoided addressing player accusations concerning the use of artificial intelligence in content creation. This silence has persisted even as some users have begun referring to the current season as "Battleslop 6."
