The development team behind Battlefield 6 has issued an official statement following widespread community criticism and social media mockery regarding specific character skins. The studio acknowledged oversight in their design processes and addressed concerns about visual inconsistencies.
One notable issue involves the McNeil skin, which features a misspelling of the word Security as Secuty on a uniform emblem. Battlefield Studios admitted this error escaped their internal checks and committed to fixing the typo during the Season 5 Phase 2 update, which is scheduled for release in November.
Regarding the Midnight Mirage skin, which depicts a character equipped with five holstered pistols, the developers clarified that this design choice was intentional. The studio stated the configuration serves as a deliberate nod to exaggerated action cinema tropes where characters carry excessive weaponry.
Despite these clarifications, the studio did not address public speculation regarding the potential use of artificial intelligence in asset creation. While the team promised to enhance quality control measures to prevent future errors, they remained silent on whether AI tools were utilized for these specific cosmetic items.
