Swedish developer Liquid Swords has officially entered bankruptcy, a move initiated by its own staff. According to reports, approximately 30 employees petitioned for the bankruptcy order, which was issued on October 12, following claims that they had not received pay for at least two months.

Founded in 2020 by Avalanche Studios co-founder Christofer Sundberg, the studio struggled to secure a publisher for its debut title, Samson. The project underwent significant changes, shifting from an intended action RPG to a run-based open-city crime simulator after the studio faced funding difficulties and laid off half its staff last year.

Upon its release in April, Samson faced mixed reviews, with critics citing technical issues and bugs. While the studio continued to support the game with updates, including a patch on October 8, these efforts failed to generate sufficient commercial interest to sustain operations.

The studio's administrator, Cirio Law, has placed Liquid Swords and its assets, including the rights to Samson, up for sale with a bidding deadline of October 21. Meanwhile, the Swedish state wage guarantee is expected to cover the outstanding salaries owed to the affected employees.
