Embark Studios has officially shifted its development strategy for the extraction shooter ARC Raiders, moving away from a rapid, continuous update cycle. This decision follows internal concerns regarding the sustainability of the previous workflow and its negative impact on the team's health.

The studio has transitioned to a model featuring larger, semiannual content releases. Executive producer Aleksander Grondal explained that this approach allows developers to spend more time refining the game, noting that the team functions more effectively under this structure compared to the prior, unsustainable pace.

Grondal acknowledged that this change has resulted in a decline in Steam player counts, a consequence the studio accepted in exchange for improved developer morale. He emphasized that Embark Studios is not a large company and must leverage its specific strengths to make decisions that benefit both the game and the staff.

Despite the reduced frequency, the game recently launched its 2.0 update, titled Sendero helado, alongside a temporary free trial to mark the title's one-year anniversary. These efforts have generated a recent uptick in player engagement on Steam, though current figures remain below those seen during the game's initial launch months.
