The developer behind the upcoming title Drunken Goddess Reflux has officially canceled its planned public Steam demo. Originally scheduled for October 19, the trial will now be restricted to a closed play session for a limited number of participants.
Alliance Arts expressed significant concerns that releasing a public demo could allow individuals to use AI tools to quickly produce and release imitations or clones of the game's presentation and mechanics before the official launch. The team fears such copycat experiences could negatively impact the game's commercial success.
Beyond AI threats, the developers cited an inability to manage restrictions on streaming and gameplay video uploads. By moving to a closed environment, the team can enforce specific participation requirements and rules regarding content sharing that they currently lack the resources to monitor on a public scale.
Interested players are encouraged to join the developer's Discord server to seek access to the closed sessions. Despite these changes to the demo, the full game remains scheduled for release on PC via Steam on December 8, 2026.
