Liquid Swords, a studio founded in 2020 by Avalanche Studios co-founder Christofer Sundberg, has reportedly filed for bankruptcy. Reports indicate that the company has failed to pay employee salaries for several months, leaving approximately 30 staff members to rely on state support while the studio seeks a buyer.

The studio's debut title, the open-world action game Samson, was released in April 2026. The game features a protagonist burdened by debt who engages in combat and vehicle-based chaos within a crime-ridden city. Despite initial interest, the project struggled with financial instability during its development phase.

Critical reception for Samson has been poor, with the PC version holding a Metacritic score of 51 based on 33 reviews. While some critics appreciated its simple, focused approach, many reviews highlighted significant flaws, including excessive bugs, awkward controls, and monotonous gameplay. Players on Steam have similarly labeled the title as having mixed reviews.

Samson is currently available on Windows via Steam and the Epic Games Store, as well as on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Following the bankruptcy reports, users on Reddit have expressed that the studio's collapse was not surprising given the game's reception. As of October 17, 2026, the developer has not issued an official statement regarding these reports.
