Battlefield Studios recently addressed player criticism regarding two controversial cosmetic items introduced in Battlefield 6 Season 5. The items, which debuted on October 13, 2026, sparked immediate community debate due to a spelling error and an unusual character design.
The first issue involves a typo on the McNeil skin, where the word "security" was misspelled on an armband. Developers confirmed this error will be corrected in a November update. The second item, the Midnight Mirage skin, features an infantry character equipped with five pistol holsters. Unlike the typo, the studio clarified that this design is an intentional creative choice inspired by over-the-top action movie tropes.
In an official Discord statement, the team acknowledged that the items failed to meet their internal quality standards. While they promised to review internal workflows to prevent future visual oddities, the studio did not address fan speculation regarding the potential use of generative AI in the creation of these assets.
Season 5 content is rolling out in three waves, with the first wave already live. Additional updates, including the European Casino map, are scheduled for November 10, followed by further map adjustments on December 8. Previously, IGN awarded the game's multiplayer an 8/10, praising its dynamic destruction and well-layered action.
