Peter Molyneux recently discussed the future of the Black & White series during an interview with PC Gamer. While the developer is currently focused on his latest project, Masters of Albion, he addressed the possibility of a third entry in the classic god game franchise.

Molyneux explained that developing a new title in the series presents significant challenges, noting that the original games relied on unique, first-time inventions that lacked modern middleware support. He highlighted that the ability for players to navigate anywhere in the world complicates traditional optimization methods.

Beyond technical hurdles, Molyneux identified rights ownership as a major barrier to a sequel. He noted that EA holds the rights to a potential Black & White 3, while Microsoft owns the rights to a fourth installment, making it difficult to secure development approval for such large-scale projects.

Despite the lack of plans for a third game, Molyneux suggested that a remaster of the original title may be in development. Although he stated it would be inappropriate to provide specific details, he indicated that he believes people are currently working on such a project.
