A Delaware jury has awarded Qualcomm $2 in a long-standing licensing dispute against Arm. The verdict follows allegations that Arm acted in bad faith regarding technology licensed by Qualcomm, which powers many non-Apple smartphones.

The jury found that Arm breached its Architectural License Agreement by failing to provide contractually obligated support and patches for licensed designs. Additionally, the jury ruled that Arm interfered with a 2024 deal between Qualcomm and Meta by strategically leaking information to Bloomberg News.

While Qualcomm secured these two specific claims, the jury sided with Arm on five other counts. Both companies claimed victory, with Arm emphasizing that the nominal $2 award validates its argument that it operated in good faith.

The primary financial stakes remain undecided. Qualcomm is seeking a five-year freeze on royalty payments, which could be worth billions of dollars, based on the claim that Arm acted in bad faith. The outcome of this potential payment pause is still pending.
