Nintendo Japan recently announced an upcoming increase in repair costs for its Switch and Switch 2 consoles. Citing rising component expenses, the company confirmed that the new pricing structure will take effect for all repair items arriving at their facility on or after November 16, 2026.

The most significant price adjustments affect the console motherboards, which house essential memory and storage components. The standard Switch motherboard will rise from 14,300 yen to 24,200 yen, while the OLED model increases from 16,500 yen to 26,400 yen. Additionally, the Switch 2 motherboard repair cost will climb to 37,400 yen.

Beyond the motherboard, other components such as screens, input interfaces, and speakers are also seeing smaller price increases of approximately 1,000 yen. The report notes that the new cost for a Switch 2 motherboard repair is now equivalent to the price of a brand-new OLED Switch before the recent market-wide hardware price hikes.

While these changes are specific to Japan, there is speculation regarding the global impact. In Taiwan, where Weblink International handles repairs without a standardized public price list, it remains uncertain if similar adjustments will follow, though the broader trend of rising component costs suggests a potential for worldwide price increases.
