Geo and its parent company, Second Retailing, announced that unauthorized access to their internal systems was detected on October 15, 2026. To prevent further damage, the company initiated emergency system maintenance on October 17, resulting in the suspension of Geo Online and various associated web services and applications.

The maintenance has halted several online functions, including new orders and cancellations on the Geo Online Store, as well as new applications for宅配買取 (home delivery purchase) and宅配レンタル (home delivery rental) services. While previously placed orders will be shipped as scheduled, users currently cannot check transaction histories, confirm appraisal results, or update registration information.

Physical Geo and Geo Mobile stores remain open for business, though some procedures have changed. Customers must present a Ponta card or digital Ponta for rentals and purchases, as some app-based membership functions are unavailable. Additionally, app coupons can be redeemed by speaking directly to store staff, and in-store reservations are still being accepted.

The company is currently collaborating with external security experts to investigate the cause and scope of the breach. As of the latest update, the restoration timeline remains undetermined. Geo has not yet disclosed whether personal information was leaked or the specific methods used in the attack, noting that the situation is part of a broader trend of cyberattacks targeting domestic organizations.
