Rob Nelson, the development director for Grand Theft Auto VI, recently discussed how residential spaces function in the upcoming title. In an interview with IGN, Nelson noted that these environments share more similarities with the camps found in Red Dead Redemption 2 than with previous entries in the GTA series.

According to Nelson, these locations prioritize interactivity and a distinct sense of home. He clarified that players are often inhabiting spaces belonging to other characters rather than their own personal property. The design aims to foster a specific atmosphere within the game world.

Regarding customization, the game offers basic cosmetic adjustments within these homes. Players can perform minor tasks such as shaving or getting a haircut. However, Nelson specified that accessing a wider variety of new hairstyles requires visiting dedicated barbershops or salons.

Grand Theft Auto VI is scheduled for release on November 19, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. Rockstar Games describes this project as the most immersive evolution of the franchise to date, arriving over thirteen years after the launch of its predecessor.
