Pokémon Pokopia has introduced its inaugural Halloween event, "Pumpkaboo's Sweet Surprises." Running from Oct. 17 at 5 a.m. until Nov. 1 at 4:59 a.m. based on Nintendo Switch console time, the event allows players to earn themed items by tricking Pokémon to collect pumpkin candies.
To participate, players must have rebuilt at least one Pokémon Center and progressed through the Bleak Beach questline to learn the Camouflage ability from Zorua. Players use this skill to disguise Ditto as specific objects to startle other Pokémon. If a Pokémon recognizes the disguise, the player must undo the transformation to successfully scare them and receive between one and three candies.
The event features nine new furnishing items, requiring a total of 20 pumpkin candies to acquire one of each. Polygon notes that because candy rewards appear random, players may need to scare between seven and 20 Pokémon. Collecting all event items grants a "Trick or Treat" photo frame.
Pumpkaboo acts as the event vendor, and players can also attract Gourgeist by constructing two new event-specific habitats. While items can be purchased from Pumpkaboo, copies of furnishings are also obtainable via the 3D printer. Players can utilize time travel to access the event if they miss the active window.
