Yuji Horii, the creator of the Dragon Quest series, shared his experience playing the web-based life simulation game 80 Billion to 1 on October 16. During his playthrough, Horii was randomly assigned a life in Tajikistan, leading him to remark that he lived a relatively long life.

The simulation depicted a character born into a rural family with limited financial means. Although the character aspired to be a doctor, he eventually worked as a chief specialist in general affairs. After spending 40 years with his wife, he outlived her and passed away at age 92 due to ischemic heart disease, such as myocardial infarction.

Released on October 5, 2026, by South Korean developer Jin Hwi-eus, the game utilizes AI and public statistical data from organizations like the United Nations. Players are randomly born in one of 172 countries, where their life paths and decisions are constrained by real-world environmental conditions.

Horii’s engagement with the title follows his own recent experimentation with AI-assisted development. On October 11, he released a short mystery game titled The Interrogation Room's Komiya, which he completed in approximately 30 minutes. Reflecting on his past work on The Portopia Serial Murder Case, Horii expressed surprise at how AI tools now allow individuals to create games without traditional programming or artistic skills.
