The Fellow Espresso Series 1 machine has been demonstrated running the 1993 classic shooter Doom on its integrated circular display. This feat was showcased by a Reddit user who utilized custom firmware to enable the game on the appliance.
Gameplay controls are mapped to the machine's physical interface. The brew button functions as the run command, while the steam button is used to fire weapons. Additionally, the device's scroll wheel allows players to rotate the character left or right.
The game reportedly maintains a solid frame rate on the small screen. While the display is intended to guide users through drink selections like cappuccinos or americanos and show extraction timers, it now serves as an unconventional platform for demon-slaying.
This modification adds to a growing list of non-gaming hardware capable of running the title, including smart-charging stations and pregnancy tests. The broader Doom franchise continues to evolve, with Doom: The Dark Ages scheduled for release in May 2025.
