Key information

PowerColor is reportedly developing a low-profile iteration of the Radeon RX 9050, identified as the RX9050 8GB LP. This potential release, spotted in a listing by leaker momomo_us, aims to provide a half-height design suitable for small form factor PCs and home theater systems.

The standard RX 9050, which debuted in late July, features 16 RDNA 4 compute units, 1,024 stream processors, and 8 GB of GDDR6 memory on a 128-bit bus. It operates with a typical board power of 92 W and a boost clock reaching 2.6 GHz.

A significant design challenge involves the 92 W power requirement, which exceeds the 75 W capacity of a standard PCIe slot. It remains uncertain if PowerColor will incorporate an external power connector or reduce power limits and clock speeds to accommodate the low-profile form factor.

Official details regarding pricing, specifications, and release dates are currently unavailable. Given that the original RX 9050 launched at $279 exclusively in Japan, Latin America, and Asia-Pacific, the low-profile variant may follow a similarly restricted regional distribution strategy.
