Key information

Sony has confirmed that Grand Theft Auto V will be removed from the PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium catalogs on November 17, 2026. This departure occurs just before the highly anticipated release of Grand Theft Auto VI, which is scheduled for November 19, 2026.

The removal serves as a commercial transition strategy, with Sony’s interface actively encouraging subscribers to either finish their current playthrough or pre-order the upcoming sequel. While the game will be locked behind a paywall on the PlayStation Store after the deadline, the change does not affect PlayStation Plus Essential members, who never had access to this specific catalog.

Players need not worry about losing their progress, as all solo campaign saves and GTA Online profile data remain permanently linked to the user's PlayStation Network account. Any future purchase of the game, whether physical or digital, will allow users to resume their progress exactly where they left off.

With an estimated 30 to 40 hours required to complete the main story, the remaining time is limited for new players. Furthermore, the removal helps users manage their PS5 storage, freeing up space for the pre-loading of Grand Theft Auto VI, which begins shortly after the title leaves the service.
