Netflix has confirmed that the 2016 film Warcraft: The Commencement will be removed from its streaming catalog on November 12. This departure occurs shortly after the November 5 launch of WoW Forever, a project designed to revitalize the original MMORPG experience.

WoW Forever introduces a horizontal expansion strategy that caps player progression at level 60. The project adds significant content, including over 1,000 new quests, nine original dungeons, and raids such as the 20-player Summit of Hyjal. It also features new race-class combinations, such as Undead Paladins, and modernized visual options.

The removal of the Warcraft film is attributed to the expiration of distribution rights between Netflix and Universal Pictures rather than creative decisions. Directed by Duncan Jones, the film faced mixed critical reception upon release, with critics citing a dense narrative and heavy reliance on visual effects, despite its fidelity to the source material.

Commercially, the film struggled in the United States, earning only 47 million dollars. However, it achieved global success with over 439 million dollars in total revenue, largely driven by its performance in China. Fans of the franchise have until November 12 to view the film on the platform.
