Key information
Valve has launched a new Achievement Sets feature in the Steam client beta, allowing developers to organize achievements into distinct groups. This update enables players to track progress for base games, DLC, and seasonal content separately, ensuring that completion records remain intact even when new content is added.
The system allows developers to categorize achievements by specific goals, such as campaign completion or character classes. Seasonal or time-limited achievements, like those for Halloween events, can be archived once the period ends. This prevents missed seasonal goals from negatively impacting a player's overall completion percentage for the base game.
The interface has been redesigned to display overall progress, set-specific completion, and filtering options. Players can earn completion trophies for finishing individual sets, which are visible on their profiles. Additionally, a new comparison tool allows users to compare their rare achievements and set progress with up to three friends, accounting for differences in owned DLC.
This feature is currently available in the Steam client beta but is not automatically applied to all titles. Developers must actively configure and support achievement sets for their games. Valve noted that initial support includes titles such as Portal 2, Left 4 Dead 2, Forza Horizon 5, and Crusader Kings 3.
