Key information
A Reddit user successfully secured a specific color-matched replacement for a faulty graphics card through an Asus RMA process. After sending in a white Asus ROG Strix RTX 4080 Super OC for repair, the user was initially provided with a black Asus TUF Gaming RTX 5080 as a replacement.
The user sought a white replacement to maintain the aesthetic of their all-white PC build. Following six weeks of communication and case escalation to higher-level management, Asus approved the request for a white ROG Astral RTX 5080 White OC. The company also provided complimentary FedEx Standard Overnight shipping for the exchange.
Beyond the aesthetic resolution, the replacement provides a performance upgrade. The RTX 5080 generally performs as well as or better than the RTX 4080 Super at 1440p resolution and offers access to newer DLSS technology.
While this outcome was positive, the process required significant persistence from the user. The report notes that RMA experiences can be unpredictable, citing separate instances where hardware issues like faded serial numbers have complicated warranty claims for other users.
