Key information
Electronic Arts has made Battlefield 6 available to play for free on Steam. This limited-time offer coincides with the launch of the game's fifth season, which officially began on Oct. 13.
Season 5 introduces a variety of content, including new maps, six weapons, and two vehicles. The update also features Rapid Royale, a faster-paced battle royale mode, and teases an upcoming Halloween event themed around the Dead Space franchise.
The free trial period concludes on Oct. 20. Players interested in purchasing the title can acquire the Standard Edition at a 60% discount, bringing the price down to $27.99 from the original $69.99, until the same date.
Despite the new content, the season has faced scrutiny from the community regarding battle pass cosmetics. Players have raised concerns that certain designs may be AI-generated, citing visual inconsistencies like misspelled text and redundant equipment, though EA has not confirmed these claims.
