Key information
Tenebris Somnia, a retro survival horror title developed by Andrés Borghi and Saibot Studios, is scheduled for release on October 16. Published by New Blood Interactive, the game follows protagonist Julia as she investigates her ex-boyfriend's apartment, only to encounter a nightmare world.
The game distinguishes itself by blending pixel-art gameplay with high-quality live-action cutscenes. Unlike traditional titles where cinematics serve as rewards, these sequences are integrated directly into the experience, potentially dropping players into or out of enemy encounters without warning to maintain constant suspense.
Production involved professional film crews, practical monster effects, and prosthetics molded from performers' faces. The developers emphasized that all assets, including hand-drawn animations and human-composed audio, were created without generative AI to maintain authenticity. Challenges included matching film sets to in-game locations through careful planning and VFX work.
The title features classic survival horror mechanics, including limited resources, puzzles, and boss fights. It is available on Xbox Series X|S and PC, supporting Xbox Play Anywhere for cross-platform access.
