Key information
Leaked footage from developer portfolios suggests Ubisoft previously worked on a canceled open-world title titled Assassin’s Creed Destiny. Unlike the mobile-focused Assassin’s Creed Jade, this project was reportedly designed for PC and modern console hardware.
The game was set during the transition from the Qin to the Han dynasty in 206 BCE, centering on the rise of Liu Bang. Gameplay clips featured a hooded protagonist navigating a siege led by warlord Xiang Yu and utilizing a unique spinning umbrella weapon.
Development reportedly involved a partnership between Ubisoft and Tencent. The project's UI incorporated thematic elements like ink brushes and yin-yang symbols, with potential plans for either dual protagonists or a choice between male and female characters.
While Destiny remains canceled, the franchise faces ongoing challenges. Assassin’s Creed Jade has faced delays, and the upcoming Assassin’s Creed Hexe has reportedly undergone reworks, including the removal of magical abilities, alongside significant leadership departures.
