Filmmaker Uwe Boll has publicly defended his past video game adaptations following the release of the new Street Fighter movie. Sharing a mixed review from Variety on social media, Boll suggested that critics should cease disparaging his previous cinematic efforts.
The director's history includes projects like Alone in the Dark, which holds a 1% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Boll recently engaged in a heated social media exchange, responding to a critic by comparing their birth to the reception of his own work.
GameSpot described the new Street Fighter film as a messy production that offers mindless entertainment. While the movie currently holds a Metacritic score of 45, Boll's own adaptations, such as House of the Dead and BloodRayne, maintain significantly lower scores ranging from 9 to 22.
Boll previously planned an unauthorized sequel to House of the Dead titled Castle of the Dead, though he later canceled the project. Meanwhile, current box-office performance for the new Street Fighter adaptation is tracking slightly behind Mortal Kombat 2.
