CD Projekt Red has officially confirmed that its upcoming live-action project, developed in partnership with Paramount Pictures, will not be a direct adaptation of the Cyberpunk 2077 game narrative. Joint-CEO Michał Nowakowski stated that the studio intends to tell a new story set within the Cyberpunk universe rather than providing a one-to-one translation of the source material.

The shift to a new formula follows the expiration of the studio's contract with Anonymous Content. While specific plot details remain undisclosed, the decision aims to move away from retelling the specific journey of the character V, which was previously the subject of speculation regarding the film's direction.

The confirmation originated from an interview with PAP Biznes. Because the initial information relied on machine translation, the publication has sought verification from a Polish contact to ensure the accuracy of Nowakowski's statements regarding the project's creative scope.

Previously, CD Projekt Red expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration with Paramount, citing shared creative ambitions for the franchise. The studio has indicated that further information regarding the film will be shared at an appropriate time, though no specific release window or production timeline has been provided.
