Despite the closure of BioWare, Amazon MGM Studios is continuing development on a television series based on the Mass Effect franchise. Sources indicate that the project remains active at Prime Video with the original creative team still attached.
The production features showrunner Doug Jung and writer Daniel Casey. The team also includes executive producers Karim Zreik, Ari Arad, and BioWare's Mike Gamble. Development has been official since 2024, following earlier rumors that surfaced in 2021.
The narrative will diverge from the games by focusing on events occurring after the original trilogy rather than retelling Commander Shepard's origin.
