CD Projekt Red has officially announced a live-action film adaptation of the Cyberpunk franchise in collaboration with Paramount Pictures. While the project is currently in development, specific details regarding the cast and crew remain limited.
CEO Michał Nowakowski clarified that the production will not be a direct adaptation of the game. Instead, the studio intends to craft an original narrative set within the established Cyberpunk universe rather than providing a one-to-one translation of the source material.
This strategy mirrors the approach taken with the animated series Cyberpunk: Edgerunners. That project, which featured an original story, received widespread praise upon its 2022 release and was credited with helping to rehabilitate the reputation of the original game following its difficult launch.
Reports suggest that producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura is attached to the film. Bonaventura has prior experience with video game adaptations, having worked on projects such as Dead Rising: Watchtower and Doom: Annihilation.
