Koei Tecmo, in collaboration with Gust and TOHO Games Co, Ltd., has announced the upcoming release of The Apothecary Diaries: The False Imperial Brother. This title marks the first console adaptation of the franchise and is scheduled to launch worldwide on March 18, 2027.
Players will primarily control Maomao as she investigates the Five Mysteries and Five Curses. The gameplay involves fulfilling quests and delivering medicine to build trust with characters, which unlocks exclusive side stories. Additionally, players can occasionally control Jinshi to gather information from restricted sources or play as Maomao (Cat) to access high areas for eavesdropping and evidence retrieval. Other playable characters include the Quack Doctor and Luomen, who influence mini-game difficulty during medicine preparation.
The game is currently in development for PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Steam. It will feature Japanese voice acting accompanied by English text. Fans who complete specific chapter conditions can earn Completion Stamps, which unlock special illustrations upon full collection.
Pre-order and early purchase incentives are available. Digital pre-orders placed by March 17, 2027, include the Apothecary's Tasteful Accessory Pack. Purchases made before March 31, 2027, grant the Apothecary's Starter Kit and Modest Accessory Pack. Furthermore, a Digital Deluxe Edition is available, featuring the base game alongside various costume and accessory packs for Maomao, Jinshi, and Maomao (Cat).
