Key information
CD Projekt Red has officially addressed the development of a live-action project set within the Cyberpunk 2077 universe. The company confirmed that the production will not serve as a direct adaptation of the existing video game narrative.
Co-CEO Michał Nowakowski stated to PAP Biznes that the team intends to craft a fresh story rather than providing a one-to-one translation of the game's plot. This approach aims to expand upon the established setting while exploring new narrative ground.
The project is currently being developed through a partnership with Paramount, which now operates under the Skydance banner following a recent merger. Lorenzo di Bonaventura, known for his work on the live-action Transformers series, is attached to produce the film.
While details regarding the specific plot or release timeline remain limited, the studio's commitment to an original story marks a distinct departure from traditional game-to-film adaptations. Further updates on the production are expected as the partnership progresses.
