Key information

Rockstar Games is currently involved in a legal dispute with the English union IWGB following the termination of approximately thirty employees in November 2025. The company cited gross misconduct related to the sharing of confidential information on Discord, while the union characterizes the dismissals as a repressive measure against staff organizing for labor rights.

During ongoing proceedings at the Glasgow employment tribunal, which commenced on September 17, the IWGB alleged that Rockstar North incentivized staff to act as informants. According to reports from journalist Chris Kerr, the union claims these individuals were promised rewards, such as additional time off, in exchange for monitoring and reporting on the private union Discord server.

Evidence presented during the cross-examination of Jennifer Kolbe, Rockstar's head of publishing, included communications between HR manager Julie Stephen and an informant. Records suggest this individual was granted an hour of leave via the Workday platform after spending an hour reviewing the union's Discord activity and providing screenshots to management. While the union labels these individuals as moles, the tribunal has referred to them as information providers.

The legal battle has drawn attention from local government officials, including Chris Murray, Tracy Gilbert, and Scott Arthur, who have accused Rockstar North of obstruction. The trial is scheduled to conclude on November 18, 2026, one day prior to the retail release of GTA 6.
