Xbox is reportedly developing its own handheld gaming device alongside Project Helix, which is identified as the brand's next-generation console. These projects are currently the subject of speculation regarding their potential market release.

According to a report from Fortune, the handheld device is targeted for a holiday 2027 release, while the next-generation console is aimed for the holiday season in 2028. These timelines remain unconfirmed by official sources.

Internal discussions regarding Project Helix involve debates over the operating system, specifically choosing between a streamlined Windows version or new software optimized for gaming performance. These deliberations reportedly became serious enough that executives threatened to cancel the handheld project, shifting development control to the Xbox team.

Projected costs for the hardware range between 1,200 US Dollar and 1,800 US Dollar, though prices could decrease if Microsoft chooses to subsidize the units. Microsoft and Xbox have not yet responded to these rumors.
