Gust and Koei Tecmo have officially confirmed the implementation of a body type customization feature for the upcoming RPG Atelier of Karia: The Kingdom of Night and the Signpost of Memories. This decision follows a user survey conducted between July 24 and August 23, which gauged player interest in character customization options.
The survey results indicated strong support for the feature, with 78.9% of respondents favoring its inclusion. Among English-speaking participants, support reached 90.8%. Players will be able to toggle the system on or off and utilize an option to lock the character into a preferred body type, a feature requested by 62.8% of survey participants.
The system will offer five distinct stages of body types, ranging from two slim variations to two fuller options. Official previews demonstrate that the maximum fullness setting features a more pronounced midsection than initially proposed in the survey. The development team also gathered feedback on preferred costumes and desired short story themes, with eating-related narratives proving particularly popular.
Atelier of Karia is scheduled for release on February 25, 2027. The game will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Steam. Further developer insights regarding the game's design and the survey feedback are expected to be shared via the official X account.
