Sony has refreshed its high-end Walkman series, introducing the NW-WM1ZM3, NW-WM1AM3, and NW-ZX900. These devices feature significant internal and external upgrades, with pricing starting at US$ 1899.99.
The flagship NW-WM1ZM3 features a unibody gold-plated copper chassis and dual solid-state capacitors. It incorporates KIMBER KABLE wiring for its 4.4 mm balanced output. Meanwhile, the NW-WM1AM3 utilizes an aluminum chassis with a copper-plated shield and shares the dual capacitor design. The NW-ZX900, designed for portability, uses an aluminum unibody with an oxygen-free copper backplate.
The new models face physical limitations due to increased material usage. The NW-WM1ZM3 weighs 670 g, while the NW-WM1AM3 reaches 425 g. Additionally, the 5.5-inch 1080P LCD screens lack OLED technology, high refresh rates, or always-on display functionality.
All three players run on Android 16, supporting various streaming platforms. The NW-WM1AM3 and NW-ZX900 include DSD Remastering technology, which enhances non-Hi-Res audio from streaming apps. Storage remains expandable via microSD cards across the lineup.
