The Japanese e-book platform Comic Cmoa, operated by NTT Solmare Corporation, confirmed that its systems were subjected to unauthorized third-party access starting on October 15. The company officially announced on October 16 that it is collaborating with external specialists to investigate the incident and restore services.
Investigations revealed that member data was leaked to an unauthorized party. Compromised information includes e-mail addresses, hashed passwords, dates of birth, genders, and nicknames. The total number of affected users remains under investigation.
The company stated that credit card details were not stored in the affected system and were not leaked. Furthermore, there is currently no confirmation that purchase histories or the contents of personal bookshelves were exposed or lost.
Officials warned that leaked data could be used for phishing attempts or unauthorized access to other services. Users are advised to avoid suspicious links and update passwords if they use identical credentials elsewhere. Once services resume, all members will be required to reset their passwords.
