Key information
ProbablyMonsters is developing Nekome: Nazi Hunter, a revenge-focused title centered on a man named Vano. Game Director Jeronimo Barrera describes the project as a power fantasy that explores the brutal emotions arising when a person's world is systematically destroyed.
The game draws direct creative inspiration from modern films like Inglourious Basterds and Sisu. To maintain a balance between serious historical subject matter and stylized action, the developers utilized a visual aesthetic reminiscent of graphic novels and grindhouse cinema, which they believe better supports the game's ultra-violent tone.
Barrera emphasizes that the narrative is rooted in the historical persecution and murder of Romani people during the Second World War. To ensure the story is told honestly and credibly, the studio has collaborated with Jewish and Romani cultural experts throughout the development process.
The gameplay features an up-close combat style defined by rage rather than precision. Players are tasked with confronting those responsible for the protagonist's tragedy directly. The title is currently scheduled for release early next year.
