Released on May 28, 2026, for Nintendo Switch and Steam, Schrodinger's Call is a novel adventure game developed by the three-person indie team Acrobatic Chirimenjako in collaboration with Shueisha Games. The narrative follows players guiding souls in a post-apocalyptic world where the moon has fallen to Earth, focusing on the core experience of saving individuals through phone calls.
The team, consisting of Achabox, Seishi Irimajiri, and ame/tameyoshi, lacked prior experience in developing novel adventures. They initially experimented with various genres, including rhythm and real-time conversation mechanics, before realizing their true goal was storytelling. To streamline production, ame/tameyoshi created the custom Schrodinger's Call engine, which allowed the team to iterate rapidly without relying heavily on engineers.
During development, the team faced a crisis when their initial five-chapter structure failed to evoke emotional engagement. By visualizing emotional curves and reassigning roles, they successfully refined the narrative. They also intentionally avoided automation for UI elements, manually adjusting choice layouts to emphasize narrative importance, such as placing critical decisions horizontally to convey fairness.
The developers emphasized that maintaining their core concept throughout the project was essential to overcoming development hurdles. This dedication to their vision, supported by their custom toolset, enabled the small team to complete the project despite multiple setbacks. The game is currently available, alongside a first-chapter demo.
