Legendary game developer BioWare has officially announced its closure. Alongside this shutdown, the studio confirmed the cancellation of its upcoming Mass Effect title.
According to Bloomberg, this decision follows a significant layoff initiative by Electronic Arts. The restructuring impacted approximately 400 employees across the company, including 50 staff members from BioWare.
Executives Cam Weber and David Tinson explained in an internal memo that the rapid evolution of the gaming industry necessitated these difficult choices. The company intends to prioritize core franchises and projects with higher growth potential.
