On October 14, professional Dota 2 player Nuengnara Teeramahanon, known as 23savage, reported that he and his teammates were detained by Malaysian police on October 13. Teeramahanon, who currently plays for the Singaporean team Xipto Esports, stated that officers raided their residence, confiscated their passports and phones, and disconnected their internet.

During a two-hour interrogation regarding their profession, the police questioned whether the group were legitimate esports athletes. The situation began to de-escalate when an officer recognized the team Fnatic and Teeramahanon’s social media connection to influencer Ms. Puiyi, leading the authorities to reconsider their status.

To further verify his identity, Teeramahanon was permitted to play Dota 2 while in custody. Using the hero Kez, he dominated a 40-minute match by recording 32 kills, 3 deaths, and 10 assists. This performance accounted for over half of his team's total kills, ultimately convincing the officers of his professional status.

Following the demonstration, the players were released. Teeramahanon noted that while the exact reason for the police raid remains unclear, the officers consumed two boxes of his Nutella during the incident.
