Sega and Creative Assembly have temporarily pulled the Total War: Shogun 2 – Complete Edition from digital storefronts. This decision follows an October 13 launch that triggered significant criticism regarding the title's technical performance and visual quality.
The remaster aimed to modernize graphics through updated rendering methods. However, users on Steam highlighted major flaws, specifically noting that AI-upscaled assets like unit cards and cutscenes contained errors such as merged armor and characters possessing extra fingers.
In a joint statement, the companies admitted the product failed to meet player expectations and their internal quality benchmarks. They are currently collaborating with a development partner to investigate these issues and implement necessary improvements to the experience.
While the remaster is currently unavailable for new purchases, the developers are working with platform holders to restore access to the original version of the game. Existing owners retain the ability to play the title in its current state.
