Cygames has launched a demo for Houraku no Kuni, the inaugural title from its new brand CygamesEdge. This brand focuses on small-to-medium-scale projects developed by elite, compact teams. The full game is scheduled for release on November 5, 2026, for PC via Steam, Nintendo Switch 2, and PS5, with a domestic price of 1100 yen including tax.
The game centers on a journey down a massive world tree, where players control a man and a child descending toward the surface. Gameplay emphasizes the tension of managing falls and navigating precarious platforms. Players must balance the inherent fear of heights with specialized mechanics like the Flower Dive, which allows for safe landings from lethal drops by blooming flowers, and wind-controlled flight maneuvers.
The Steam demo, available as of October 16, provides a 15 to 30-minute experience focused entirely on high-difficulty traversal mechanics rather than narrative. While the full game is expected to offer a condensed story lasting approximately three hours, the demo grants players access to various movement abilities to test their skills in this dense, action-oriented environment.
