Key information
Publisher 4Divinity announced that Guns of Eschaton, developed by Eschatology Entertainment, will release on December 9th in Japan. The title is a soulslike first-person shooter set in a fictional 19th-century American landscape consumed by an apocalyptic event known as The Burning. Players control a multi-armed gunslinger traversing this occult-infused world to return home, facing off against monsters, twisted machines, and historical figures.
Combat mechanics emphasize tactical depth, requiring players to utilize multiple arms to parry enemy attacks with precise timing. Beyond standard shooting, players must consult a codex to identify enemy weaknesses and behavioral patterns. Customization is extensive, featuring over 20 unique weapons, individual revolver cylinder and bullet modifications, and various active and passive abilities, alongside three distinct Paths of Communion to tailor playstyles.
The project holds historical significance as the final work of the late Viktor Antonov, a veteran developer known for his art direction on Half-Life 2 and Dishonored. Antonov served as a co-founder and visual director for the Cyprus-based studio Eschatology Entertainment. His influence is reflected in the game's dark, apocalyptic aesthetic.
Guns of Eschaton supports solo play, cooperative multiplayer, and includes PvP elements. The game will be available on PC via Steam and the Microsoft Store, as well as on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, with full Japanese language support included.
