Publisher Fictions and developer Panache Digital Games have announced a remastered version of Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey. Created by Patrice Désilets, the survival and human evolution adventure is scheduled to launch on December 8 for PS5, Xbox Series, and Nintendo Switch 2.
The title has been rebuilt using Unreal Engine 5 to provide updated graphics. Beyond visual enhancements, the remaster introduces new gameplay features, including a documentary-style narration, a comprehensive photo mode, and various quality-of-life improvements designed to increase accessibility.
Set in Africa millions of years ago, the game tasks players with guiding a primate clan through the early stages of human evolution. Players must explore, forage, craft tools, and protect their group from predators while utilizing a unique system to pass knowledge to future generations.
Existing owners of the original game, which debuted in August 2019, will receive the new version as a free update. This upgrade policy also applies to PC users, ensuring current players can access the improvements at no additional cost.
