Key information
The animated series Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2, consisting of ten episodes, has premiered on Netflix. CD Projekt Red franchise lead Patrick Mills confirmed that the story takes place in 2078, one year after the main events of the video game Cyberpunk 2077.
The show features a new cast of characters, including a protagonist named Roman who is obsessed with 1990s cinema and carries a vintage camera. Showrunner Bartosz Sztybor noted that the team intentionally left Roman's background mysterious, promising that his origins will remain a secret throughout the series to preserve his sense of innocence.
The narrative shift in Night City has sparked fan speculation regarding which of the game's multiple endings might be considered official canon. While the show depicts changes in Arasaka Corporation's influence, CDPR has not confirmed if specific game outcomes are required to understand the series, drawing comparisons to the Fallout television adaptation.
Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 was released on Netflix on October 20, 2026. To coincide with the launch, Cyberpunk 2077 received a 2.5 update on October 22, 2026, adding prison side quests, cyberware customization, dual-wielding, and native mod support for consoles.
