CD Projekt RED is currently developing an original intellectual property known as Project Hadar. According to co-CEO Michał Nowakowski, this initiative represents the studio's most significant creative effort to date, marking a departure from their established work on The Witcher and Cyberpunk franchises.
The project is currently in a very early stage, preceding even formal pre-production or conceptualization. The development team is focused on creating small prototypes and testing various gameplay ideas, meaning the current features are not guaranteed to remain in the final product.
Unlike previous titles, Project Hadar does not rely on existing source material, requiring the studio to build its universe and foundations from scratch. This lack of established lore leaves the final setting and genre open, as the team explores concepts beyond fantasy or cyber-futurism.
Project Hadar is expected to be a long-term endeavor, with a release date significantly further away than other upcoming titles like The Witcher 4. Despite the long timeline, the company recently sought to hire approximately 50 developers to bolster the team, indicating positive progress and leadership support for the project.
