Key information

Jagex has officially canceled its RuneScape Reignited project less than two weeks after the initial announcement. The studio acknowledged that the proposed fresh-start initiative missed the mark, leading to a rapid reversal following significant criticism from the player base.

The project was originally designed to offer a distinct starting point for the game, featuring a separate economy and unique progression model. Creative director Mod Ryan confirmed the cancellation through a YouTube update and a blog post, expressing gratitude to the community for their direct feedback.

Despite this cancellation, Jagex confirmed that the December 2 update remains on schedule. This release will introduce the Adventure Guide and the first phase of the remastered journey. Additionally, a 10-day free trial of member content will be available from December 2 through December 12 for eligible accounts that have lacked membership since June 2.

The company's 2027 roadmap is also proceeding as planned, with Jagex emphasizing a commitment to rebuilding the game with its core community in mind. The studio noted that discussions regarding Reignited had previously overshadowed the roadmap reveal, though they intend to avoid split worlds moving forward.
