Microsoft has launched a new test for Xbox Insider participants, allowing users to access Xbox Cloud Gaming without an active Game Pass subscription. This initiative introduces three distinct hourly purchase plans, starting at a price of 3.99 USD, with a broader rollout anticipated for November.

Purchased time blocks provide an ad-free experience, reduced queue wait times, and high-quality streaming. Notably, these hours do not expire and remain valid until fully consumed. Alternatively, Microsoft is testing a free, ad-supported model to grant users access to cloud gaming services without requiring a subscription.

Availability of these features, including supported titles and regional access, may vary based on device, account eligibility, and specific test groups. Users must own the games they intend to play, though certain free-to-play titles are accessible directly through the service.

This testing follows Microsoft's announcement regarding upcoming monthly cloud gaming limits for Game Pass subscribers, which take effect in November. While the company estimates these changes will impact approximately 4% of its subscriber base, the move reflects broader industry trends toward commercial streaming models as hardware costs continue to rise.
