Jagex: The RuneScape Company unveiled the 2027 roadmap for its open-world survival craft game, RuneScape: Dragonwilds, during RuneFest 2026 in Birmingham. The title, which has reached nearly 3 million players, will receive a free update titled Luminance this December, serving as a prologue to the upcoming Blood Crystal Saga.

The Luminance update introduces a new Prayer skill, allowing players to perform rituals like burying bones or burning incense at altars. Additionally, the update adds music-based mechanics using Lyre and Songstone, alongside new character customization options, weapons, armor sets, and Fairy Ring travel to hidden areas.

In 2027, the Blood Crystal Saga will launch with the Song of Rebellion and Crown of Night updates. These expansions introduce the Ailddinas area, new creatures, and the Hunter skill. Players will battle the Nos Clan using legendary weapons like the Dark Bow and Ivandis Flail.

Beyond these expansions, Jagex plans monthly free updates throughout 2027, including new activities and the addition of the Slayer skill. Furthermore, the game will officially support mods across all platforms, including consoles, with a dedicated creation tool and an in-game browser for installation.
