The toy-themed shooter Hypercharge: Unboxed is launching a significant free update on the Nintendo Switch this week. According to reports, this release brings the Switch version in line with other platforms by introducing full crossplay functionality, allowing players to connect with friends on Steam, Xbox, and PlayStation.
The update expands gameplay with a new story mode featuring cinematic comic book-style cutscenes and optional objectives. Players can also access three new maps, six additional bosses, and six new enemy types. Furthermore, the developers have added five weapons, two playable characters, and several new game modes, including Infection, Capture the Battery, and King of the Hill.
Technical improvements accompany the content additions, including a completely overhauled user interface and a rebuild of character packaging and customization systems. The update also implements engine, networking, and localization upgrades. While the original poster believes much of this content is new across all platforms, they noted that existing trailers may not fully reflect these latest changes.
Alongside the update, the game is currently available on the Nintendo Switch at a price of $10 in the United States. This promotion marks the title's lowest price point to date and its first sale in a year, though the discount is reportedly exclusive to the Switch platform.
