Nintendo is set to release a full remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time for the Nintendo Switch 2 on November 5, 2026. Following the October 14 preview embargo, international media outlets have shared largely positive reports, highlighting that the title is more than a faithful recreation of the 1998 original.
The remake introduces significant mechanical updates, including a new dash function triggered by holding a button and the ability to jump at will. The frame rate has been increased to 60fps, triple that of the N64 version, which reviewers noted significantly improves responsiveness. Additionally, the game features modernized tutorials and refined navigation, creating a more cohesive experience.
Critics praised the overhauled graphics and orchestral music, noting that the new art style adds depth to Hyrule. However, some reviewers expressed dissatisfaction with the English voice acting, comparing it to low-quality anime dubs, though they noted that audio language settings can be adjusted. Another critique mentioned difficulty in switching targets during combat when facing multiple enemies.
The title will be available on November 5, 2026, with the physical edition priced at 8,980 yen and the digital version at 7,980 yen, both including tax. Despite minor criticisms regarding voice work and combat targeting, the consensus among early testers is that the remake successfully revitalizes the classic while maintaining its original spirit.
