Intero Biosystems has been crowned the winner of the TechCrunch Startup Battlefield at Disrupt 2026. The Denver-based company secured the victory after competing against 20 startups in San Francisco, ultimately earning the Startup Battlefield Cup and a $100,000 prize.

The competition featured a rigorous selection process where finalists presented live demonstrations to panels of venture capitalists and industry leaders. Intero Biosystems, founded by Charlie Childs and Madeline Eiken, emerged from a final group of five contenders that included Apate, Flox Intelligence, Industrial Next, and Satlyt.

Intero Biosystems specializes in creating 1mm human intestinal organoids, which are lab-grown tissues designed to simulate the human gut. Their primary product, GastroScreen, is utilized by biotech, pharmaceutical, food, and chemical firms to evaluate how various compounds affect the human body prior to human testing.

This victory places Intero Biosystems among notable past participants like Discord and Cloudflare. The Startup Battlefield program has seen over 1,700 alumni collectively raise more than $30 billion in funding, marking a significant milestone for the winning team.
